In times of uncertainty, hospitality is no longer just about rooms and services — it’s about connection, resilience, and community impact.
We are happy to welcome Andreea Bălaj, General Manager of Transilvania Trek, as a keynote speaker at our upcoming conference. With extensive experience in the tourism and hospitality industry, Andreea has been actively involved in developing authentic travel experiences and promoting sustainable tourism initiatives in Romania.
Her keynote, “The Hotel as a Community Anchor: Redefining Hospitality ROI in Uncertain Markets”, will be part of the event agenda. We look forward to welcoming you to join the conversation.
The journal seems to have been ranked in many different platforms. But gathering such information is not always straightforward. However Thanks to all the support from SRRNet members and international audience, the journal continues to develop and we anticipate more such notifications in the near future.
We are delighted to announce that David Crowther, President of SRRNet and Chair of the Scientific Committee, will deliver the keynote address entitled “Brundtland Revisited” at SRRNet’s 24th International Conference on Social Responsibility and Sustainability.
As is tradition at our conferences, David’s keynote will provoke thought and tackle a pressing contemporary issue. This year, he will delve into the evolution of sustainability since the Brundtland Report, exploring whether its principles continue to shape corporate practices and influence public policy. Attendees can expect insightful commentary on current challenges and innovative solutions, making this session an invaluable opportunity for those interested in corporate social responsibility and sustainability.
As always David will provoke reaction. So come and join the debate.
SRRNet’s journal Technological Sustainability (TechS) continues to see growing success within academic community. While we appreciate the time and effort colleagues worldwide dedicate to submitting their research, we would like to remind authors that this journal specifically focuses on the fields of Engineering and Technology.
It is essential to consider this technical focus before submitting your manuscript. For research addressing the social or economic dimensions of sustainability, SRRNet offers alternative outlets, including our world-renowned journal, Social ResponsibilityJournal, and various book series dedicated to high-quality articles in these areas.
Today is Earth Day when we celebrate the earth and all its components – animal vegetable and mineral. And of course human! We must remember to treat all parts of it well – not just today but every day. And of course we need to practice social responsibility in all things.
Of even greater importance however is the future. We must remember that sustainability is the most important concept and we must act always bearing in mind the future and the legacy which we are leaving. So join with us in the Network and commit to behaving in a sustainabile manner. And also try to get our politicians and leaders to understand this importance.
We are happy to welcome Pascal Fesneau, Honorary Consul of France in Cluj-Napoca, as a keynote speaker at our upcoming conference.
With a strong background at the intersection of international relations and business, Pascal brings a valuable perspective on how global dynamics shape organizational priorities and responsibilities. His experience offers relevant insights for both researchers and practitioners interested in the evolving role of CSR in today’s world.
His keynote, “The Three Disruptive Events: Geopolitical, Technological and Climate Influence on CSR Policies”, will be part of the event agenda.
We look forward to welcoming you to join the conversation.
As we celebrate David‘s birthday, it is appropriate to reflect on the background of the Social Responsibility Journal (SRJ). This image shows the very first issue of the Journal. The journal was founded by SRRNet after David organized the very first conference in the field. Originally published directly by SRRNet before Emerald Publishing requested to manage its publication, it was the first academic journal in the field and has since grown to be the leading journal in its category.
N.B. The Website address visible on the cover of the journal in the picture above has been changed to the current address: WWW.SRRNet.org
And the video shows a birthday party organised by the hosting university, UNEMI, in Quito, Ecuador, where we held our 21st conference in 2024. It was indeed a memorable moment. The video of course features another person: Prof Mariana Lima Bandeira, who is one of the editors of SRJ and who organised this memorable event. Our conferences are highly academic and provide excellent opportunities for international collaborations but also full of enjoyment. This year we are excited to hold our conference in Cluj Napoca, Romania. As always we are receiving submissions from a wide variety of disciplines and from very interesting parts of the world.
Birthday celebration for David during our conference in 2024 in Quito, Equador
Throughout the years, the SRRNet conferences have created a wonderful tool for meeting like-minded people from everywhere. Our conferences are really global! Thanks to the leadership, commitment, and contributions of our members from around the world, SRRNet has led the field of CSR and Sustainability for many years. SRJ is of course the first official journal of SRRNet. the second being Technological Sustainability (TechS) which covers the different areas of Engineering and Technology. Currently, the journal is indexed in the most significant global abstracts and is supported by David as the Editor-in-Chief, 16 editors, and a long list of devoted EAB members of SRRNet. Due to the high volume of papers received, the selection process becomes more and more rigorous every year.
In this video Dr Miriam Green talks about her experience with the Network and with the SRRNet conferences (recorded in 2023)
The Network is full of initiatives and new ideas as David has always been throughout his life. Soon there will be new arrangements for publications. Check our news and activities regularly.

In 2027, SRRNet will mark 25 years of conferences, collaboration, and community. Since its inception, the Network has grown internationally while remaining freely accessible and committed to creating spaces for connection, learning, and impact.
To celebrate this milestone, we are preparing a commemorative edited volume featuring chapters written by members of the SRRNet community. Contributions will focus on personal and professional experiences of SRRNet and its conferences, offering reflective, critical, and celebratory perspectives on the Network’s and individual contributors development over time.
Key dates:
Abstract submission deadline: mid-May
Full chapter submission deadline: 30 September
The volume is intended to coincide with the 25th anniversary conference and celebrations. As academic publishing requires long lead times, preparations are beginning well in advance.
We warmly encourage Network members to contribute to this collective reflection on SRRNet’s journey—past, present, and future.
